At the end of November, Anna and Maria travelled to Dublin to work on the display for the new Garda Museum.

Prior to this, a total of 14 items of police uniform; including jackets, a variety of hats and caps and a flag had been brought to our studio in Sudbury for conservation treatment.

These were returned to the Republic of Ireland in time for mounting on site by Anna and Maria.  In three long days a total of seven mannequins with hat stands and four individual hats, plus a helmet, were mounted.  The mannequins and hat stands were supplied by Proportion of London and adapted and built up to create the correct shape for the uniform objects, and to provide good support for long-term display.

It was a great pleasure to work with the enthusiastic team in Dublin.

“The quality of work provided by May Berkouwer Textile Conservation studio was to the highest standard.  The work was delivered within a very tight programme schedule and in a very efficient, professional and timely manner.  It was a pleasure to work with May and her team.  I highly recommend their services.”
