For the past four weeks our studio has teamed up with Textile Conservation Ltd to conserve the Christ in Glory in the Tetramorph. The tapestry, which is thought to be the largest in the world (23 m x 12 m!), is housed in Coventry Cathedral and has undergone the first phase of its conservation. This has involved surface cleaning and a great variety of extensive testing to determine further treatment. It has been a challenging project providing a lot of answers, but at the same time raising many new questions regarding the nature and needs of the object. The tests and monitoring will continue over the next twelve months to aid decisions of future conservation and preservation measures. The project has attracted a lot of interest from the local public and media.
